If you capture, store and use ecological/biodiversity data either in the field, in the lab, or at your desk, then we would like to talk to you!

The DArT team, who are currently developing an ecological data capture, storage and analysis platform for biodiversity and biosecurity research, would like to invite you to an end-user engagement workshop.

Background on the platform and project aims can be found here.

The aim of these stakeholder-focused workshops is find out more about how you capture, store, analyse and use biodiversity data (from field and collections metadata to genetic/genomic data), what you do with these data, and most importantly, how we can improve this whole process for you.

We want to make it easier, faster and more efficient for you to do your work. Learning about what you currently do or have done is a good start but we know things can be frustrating and you have many improvements you want to make....so please come and help us to help you.

As our platform - "OneDArT" - develops further, we would like to extend our invitation to you to also test it for us, as we understand that co-developing and working with real users produces the best results. Our aim is to develop a platform you cannot do without!

Please share with other colleagues who may like contribute to this current workshop, and/or our continued platform development. We want to be as inclusive as possible whilst being as diverse as possible in terms of use cases and improvements.

If you cannot attend this current workshop, we are planning another one in May 2022.

Please also get in touch if you would like to be kept informed (via email) of the platform development.

This upcoming workshop will focus on field metadata use cases. The DArT developer team want to know:

  1. What sort of species/specimen data you collect in the field? e.g. ad hoc/opportunistic individual samples; systematic ecological surveys; multiple collecting events with many individuals/species per event.
  2. What sort of associated environmental data do you collect? How do you record it (e.g. text, photos, audio, etc)?
  3. What methods do you use? How do you collect the data?
  4. Do you currently use any tools (apps, etc.) to collect this data?
  5. Anything else that can give developers an insight on how you collect data in the field.
