New dartRverse ebook launched
In an era where DNA data is transforming agriculture and environmental management, the capability to analyse this 'big data' is more essential than ever. That’s where dartRverse comes in, a powerful suite of open-source R packages that streamlines the entire journey, from raw data to insight without prior programming experience.
The CBA has supported and hosted two highly successful dartRverse workshops – R-evolutionary Insights: Deep dive into SNP-based population genomics in 2024 and dartRverse this year – training over 200 in-person and online participants from across the globe.
Continuing this accessible training and capacity building is a new online ebook launched today – Getting started with dartRverse.
Written by the DartRverse team, the University of Canberra's Distinguished Professor Arthur Georges, Dr Luis Mijangos, Dr Emily Stringer and Professor Bernd Gruber, the free ebook is a structured, self-paced introduction to working with genomic data in the award-winning genetic analysis program.
Getting Started with dartRverse gives biologists the practical skills to confidently and reproducibly interrogate SNP datasets by working through RStudio, data input, manipulation, filtering and exploratory visualisation. It has been designed as a dynamic, hand-on learning resource with a strong foundation of core popgen principles featuring worked examples, exercises, podcasts and interactive web-based components. And being an ebook means it can be continuously updated by the authors and their collaborators to include rapidly developing research methods without having to put out a new edition.
