CBA scientists mingle
To welcome in 2021, and celebrate the renewal of the Centre of Biodiversity Analysis, the CBA hosted our inaugural Research Mingle.
This relaxed event aimed to create and expand networks amongst biodiversity science researchers from across ANU, University of Canberra and CSIRO.
Over 80 scientists and students from across our partner institutions participated in 'get-to-know-you' activities and shared ideas and opportunities to collaborate across the CBA. Ideas for new Ignition Projects, Synthesis Groups and Training Workshops were discussed and developed.
Professor Keith Nugent, ANU's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) closed the event with some words on the recent commitment from ANU's Vice-Chancellor and CSIRO's Chief Executive to enable stronger engagement across ANU and CSIRO - "a key national partnership".
The CBA was highlighted as a key part of building this National Precinct.
Under this aggreement, "the National Agricultural and Environmental Science Precinct represents a great opportunity to build on the ACT-based strengths of CSIRO, ANU and University of Canberra and deliver the science that the nation needs" Professor Nugent said.
The next Research Mingle will be hosted by CSIRO in the second part of 2021.
