Description

A conversation on the perspectives of academia, industry and government in supporting research and development.
Dr Sue Meek, AO, was the Chief Executive of the Australian Academy of Science from 2008-2016. She has over 30 years of experience working in a variety of capacities at the interface of industry, academia and government.
Her primary interests are promoting awareness and understanding of science and technology, and the policy settings that stimulate the conduct and appropriate application of research and development.
In this context she has had responsibilities for business opportunity evaluation and planning, policy development and implementation, administration of research funding, and regulatory compliance.
As consequence she has acquired some appreciation of the differing perspectives that shape motivation and decision making in those roles which might be helpful in approaching and negotiating with others who have similar responsibilities.
However, the presentation is intended to be an interactive one, and Sue hopes that attendees will contribute by sharing their experiences and success strategies!
