About the presenters

Carlos Melian, from the Center for Ecology, Evolution and Biogeochemistry, Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, Switzerland & Aquatic Ecology and Evolution, IEE, University of Bern, is a well-known scientist in the field of ecological networks. His research focuses on bridging theory and data to understand eco-evolutionary dynamics. His lab aims to uncover ecological and evolutionary processes by integrating highly heterogeneous data across biological levels and spatiotemporal scales. The group combines empirical data, experiments, simulations, and analytical models to translate the fascinating complexity of biological and ecological systems into testable frameworks.

Francisco Encinas-Viso is a senior research scientist at National Research Collections Australia CSIRO focusing on quantitative and molecular ecology, plant-pollinator interactions and pollination networks, conservation genetics and population ecology and biodiversity monitoring and eDNA.

Bernd Gruber, is a Professor for Spatial and Ecological Modelling at the Institute for Applied Ecology, University of Canberra whose research examines spatial population dynamics over space and time for management and conservation purposes using genetic data and developing methods to estimate demography and the effect of landscape on dispersal and population structure.

Thomas Keggin, EAWAG, Switzerland, studies tropical reef fish dynamics, particularly how populations respond to climate change and macroevolutionary modeling.

Carlos Melian's visit is funded by the Centre for Biodiversity Analysis, hosted by Francisco Encinas-Viso and Bernd Gruber.
