Genomics bioinformatics with Galaxy
The Australian Functional Fungi Initiative are co-hosting a fungal genomics workshop together with Galaxy Australia and Bioplatforms Australia (BPA). This workshop will provide an opportunity to learn how to use Galaxy (a graphical user interface in the browser) for genomics (not just fungi).
Workshop Themes:
- What to get out of high-throughput sequencing data: Reads, genomes, species, chromosomes, gene families, populations, phylogenies.
- Principles of answering biological questions from big datasets pre-Galaxy, and why Galaxy rocks.
- Basics of data QC, genome assembly, annotation and assessing quality of fungal genomes.
- Species identification and building datasets for phylogenomic hypotheses.
- Extracting genes of interests from assembled genomes.
- Hands-on sessions: Utilising Galaxy Australia.
- Collaboration, networking, and knowledge exchange.
While this is an invitation-only BPA workshop, we have arranged an additional room for local participants to benefit from this learning opportunity. In addition, all scientific talks on the Wednesday and Thursday afternoons will be open to everyone.
Please get in touch if you are interested in this learning opportunity.
