Description
In January 2014, it was announced that the Garvan Institute would be one of the first three sites in the world to acquire the Illumina HiSeq X Ten sequencing instruments.
The X Ten, with a capability of sequencing up to 18,000 whole human genomes per year at a base-cost of just $1000/genome, sets the stage for a new era in genomics for both research and clinic.
With the full fleet of instruments now in place, key members from the sequencing and informatics laboratories at the Kinghorn Centre of Clinical Genomics (KCCG) will reflect on the highlights and challenges in the implementation of large scale whole genome sequencing and present our plans to continue the growth of genomics in 2015 and beyond.
