Bob Buckley and Cameron Jack from the ANU Bioinformatics Consultancy, together with Dr Benjamin Schwessinger from the Research School of Biology will present a three day interactive training course on the Python 3 programming language.
Targeted at postdocs and graduate students with little to no previous programming experience, this workshop will take you from the very basics of programming to being able to break down real-world biological data manipulation problems.
We will cover logic, functions, modules, classes, reading & writing files including CSV and Excel, matrix math, plotting, and Jupyter/iPython notebooks.
You will need to bring a suitable laptop with Python 3 already installed. We also recommend pre-installing the Spyder IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for writing code.
Placements are limited to the first 45 people to sign up before Friday 1st of February. This course will likely be run again in the second half of 2019.
