The Centre for Biodiversity Analysis is pleased to announce a great lineup of interstate and international visitors coming to Canberra in 2026.
With the support of our EMCR Training Support and Visiting Scientist funding, the CBA community have proposed a diverse range of training, synthesis and networking opportunities.
Detailed information on our invited visitors' activities will be made available on the CBA webpage throughout the year. You are also welcome to get in touch with their hosts if you would like more information or to arrange a time to meet with them during their time in Canberra.
- July: Peter Crisp, The University of Queensland. Training workshop: Unmethylated region (UMR)-sequencing for capturing epigenomic variation at enhancer regions at population scale. Hosts: Diep Ganguly, Kai Chan, Maja Adamska (ANU), Robert Allen (CSIRO).
- August: Charitha Pattiaratchi, The University of Western Australia and Lara van Niekerk, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research & Nelson Mandela University. - November: Jack Hollister, Natural History Museum. Seminar: Robotic Digitisation and Machine Learning for High-Throughput Phenotyping of Natural History Collections; Workshop: High-Throughput Phenotyping and Strategic Digitisation: Trait Extraction, Interoperability, and Information-Theoretic Prioritisation. - Second half of 2026: Jessica Storer and Rachel O’Neill, University of Connecticut. Training workshop: Curating transposable element libraries for non-model organisms and assembling through the hard stuff. Host Sally Potter (Macquarie University).
- Late 2026/early 2027: Dan Rabosky, University of Michigan. Training workshop: Computational macroevolution and phylogenetic comparative methods; and EMCR Theo Murphy Flagship workshop: One Million Years of Sand: Climate Cycles and Biotic Evolution in Arid Australia. Host: Mitzy Pepper (ANU).
