The Centre for Biodiversity Analysis (CBA) warmly welcomes Professor Justin Borevitz as its new Director, succeeding the founding Director, Professor Craig Moritz.

Since its establishment by Moritz in 2012, the joint ANU-UCanberra-CSIRO Centre has developed into a nationally and internationally recognised hub for innovative biodiversity science and training.

Under Moritz’s leadership, the CBA has leveraged advancements across genomics, evolutionary biology and ecology, engaging over 80 research groups and initiating hundreds of new research connections, endeavours, and training and funding opportunities across the CBA’s partner institutions.

The Centre has also been active in taking biodiversity science research and tools into the policy and management landscape, with Moritz advising on several national biodiversity conservation strategies.

Professor Borevitz is set to build on this strong foundation, continuing the Centre’s mission to advance biodiversity science through cross-disciplinary and cross-institutional collaborations with a sharpened focus on translation and delivery for policy and management and an emphasis on partnership expansion.

Craig leaves the CBA Directorship with an immense legacy of exceptional science, vision, and goodwill, for which the CBA community he created thanks him.
