In February 2017 the Summer Institute in Statistical Genetics will be offered in Brisbane at the University of Queensland. Usually run at University of Washington, SISG @ UQ is positioned to make the Institute more accessible to students/postdocs/researchers in the Southern Hemisphere.
SISG @ UQ will consist of a series of two day modules, instructed by overseas and Australian experts and designed to introduce geneticists to modern methods of statistical analysis and to introduce statisticians to the statistical challenges posed by modern genetic data.
The modular nature of the Institute enables participants to design a program best suited to their backgrounds and interests. Participants can enrol in up to four modules.
Individuals attending the Institute will receive certificates of course completion in recognition of their participation.
As part of SISG 2017, in addition to the teaching modules, UQ will host two all-day Research Symposia on Wednesday 8 and 15 February providing delegates the opportunity to hear more about the current research of the module instructors.
There are a limited number of module fee waiver scholarships being offered for domestic and international applicants. Scholarship applications close 30 September 2016.
