There have been some major recent breakthroughs on human evolutionary history.

This week we will discuss two papers by local authors:

• Argue D, Groves CP, Lee MSY, Jungers WL. 2017. The affinities of Homo floresiensis based on phylogenetic analyses of cranial, dental, and postcranial characters. Journal of Human Evolution 
• Dembo M, Matzke NJ, Mooers AO, Collard M. 2015. Bayesian analysis of a morphological supermatrix sheds light on controversial fossil hominin relationships. Proc R Soc B 282(1812): 20150943. 

The first paper received wide media coverage. The second reanalysed data from hominid fossils from various studies, including those on Homo floresiensis.
