For this week’s meeting, I suggest that we discuss this paper...
Merckx, V.S.F.T., Hendriks, K.P., Beentjes, K.K., Mennes, C.B., Becking, L.E., Peijnenburg, K.T.C.A. et al. (2015). Evolution of endemism on a young tropical mountain. Nature, 524, 347-350.
…which assesses the biogeographic and ecological origins of the endemic biota of Mt Kinabalu on the island of Borneo, and infers strong evidence for phylogenetic niche conservatism in multiple lineages - a feature of the study is the phylogenetic analyses across a large and diverse sample of biota, from fungi to insects and plants.
