This year, the Research School of Biology at ANU has had some truly excellent visitors who work, amongst other things, on Computational Biology. Professor Matt Hahn (Indiana University, USA) is on sabbatical here (Aug 2018 - Jul 2019), Professor Jotun Hein (University of Oxford, UK) will visit us from Aug-Dec 2018, Professor Aaron Darling (University of Technology Sydney) and PI Rohan Williams (Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering) will visit us in September.

Therefore, the School is organsing two CompBioFests, with the first being held on 3-4 September, 2018. Speakers include Rohan Williams, Aaron Darling, Matt Hahn, Erin Vaughn, Megan McDonald, Yu Lin, Ben Kaehler, Yicheng Zhu, Xia Hua, Thomas Wong, Justin Borevitz, Tim Brown, Rob Elshire, Ted Pettigrove & John Forbes, Jane Trindall and Jotun Hein.

Talks will cover topics including:

  • phylogenomics
  • genome assembly
  • Hi-C
  • long read sequencing
  • metagenomics
  • comparative methods
  • agritechnology

A full program can be found here.

It's a great opportunity to connect with other local researchers in these areas, as well as meeting some high-profile visitors.

All welcome. This event is FREE, but please REGISTER your intention to attend for catering purposes.
